Acquiring Land for the Mexico-Toluca Train Station; Partial Operations Commence Today
The government of Mexico has declared a 192.73-square-meter property in the Santa Fe neighborhood, Álvaro Obregón borough, as a public utility for the construction of the Vasco de Quiroga Station of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train.
This station will be inaugurated by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Six out of seven necessary properties for the station have been acquired, and a process of expropriation has begun for the seventh property.
The train, which will connect various municipalities and boroughs, is expected to reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and transportation costs. The service will start with four trains on a 20-kilometer stretch, and the initial fare will be 15 pesos for the first segment.
