Exports by Nuevo Laredo start 2021 with great rhythm
Exports through Nuevo Laredo recovered their rhythm towards the end of the year and the beginning of 2021 has registered a significant increase in demand.
After the inevitable decrease in the crossing of goods through the most important commercial border for Mexico, exports through Nuevo Laredo recovered their rhythm towards the end of the year, and not only that, but the beginning of 2021 has registered a significant increase in demand .
This was confirmed by Eduardo Lozano, delegate of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) in Nuevo Laredo, who explained that it is also a recovery phenomenon, since backorders at the beginning of the pandemic have now been taken up by the exporters.
In an interview for TyT, Lozano explained that particularly the beginning of 2021 has had a really positive truck crossing, since foreign trade does not stop, quite the opposite.
“It is undoubtedly great news, but it is also a great challenge, since Nuevo Laredo is still at latent risk from Covid.19 infections. We have registered up to 9,800 crossings in one day, only for export, since the motor transport does not stop, “he said.
And while the hospital occupancy in Nuevo Laredo is at the top, in addition to being the municipality with the most active cases in all of Tamaulipas, the transporter clarifies that the industry is very committed to health protocols and this will continue for the necessary time.
As if that were not enough, he added, on the other side of the border, in Laredo, Texas, the situation due to Covid-19 is also alarming, since it is one of the cities with the highest rate of cases in relation to the density of its population.
“That is why we cannot lower our guard. Although exports are a great incentive for the country’s economy, the main challenge remains to keep us safe from the coronavirus. We will continue to cross according to demand and we will do so with extreme care for our operators and all personnel participating in the logistics chain ”, he added.
