Heavy Vehicles See Production and Export Increase in January-September”
In September 2023, the 11 companies in the heavy vehicle industry in Mexico sold 4,460 heavy vehicles at retail and 4,581 at wholesale in the domestic market. During the first nine months of the year, the heavy vehicle industry in Mexico experienced significant growth, with a production of 168,074 heavy vehicles, representing a 14.51% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Of these vehicles, 162,483 were for cargo, and 5,591 were for passengers. However, production in September showed a decrease of 8.21% compared to the previous year, with a total of 17,344 vehicles produced.
Regarding exports, the industry shipped 134,596 units, which represented a 9.94% increase compared to the same period in 2022, with the United States being the main market with a 95.9% share. Despite this annual growth, exports also experienced a decline in September, with a 9.31% decrease compared to the previous year, totaling 14,151 units exported.
In the domestic market, retail sales of heavy vehicles increased by 33.16% during the first nine months of the year, with a total of 38,018 units sold. Wholesale sales also experienced a significant increase of 36.18%, with 40,134 units sold. In September 2023, the 11 companies in the industry sold 4,460 heavy vehicles at retail and 4,581 at wholesale in the domestic market, representing an increase of 33.8% and 21%, respectively, compared to the same month in 2022.
