Japan’s Investment in Mexico Expected to Surge by 66% in 2024 Due to Nearshoring
The Japanese ambassador to Mexico, Noriteru Fukushima, has forecasted a substantial 66% increase in Japanese investment in Mexico by 2024, largely driven by nearshoring.
Currently, Japan ranks as the fourth-largest investor in Mexico, trailing behind the United States, Canada, and Spain. During a business plenary meeting, the ambassador stated that Japanese companies are expected to invest between 3 and 4 billion dollars next year, contributing to a total foreign investment flow into Mexico projected to reach 40 billion dollars this year and 50-60 billion dollars next year.
The ambassador emphasized the interest of Japanese companies in Mexico due to nearshoring and the favorable international environment, positioning Mexico as one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investment.
