Mexico is the main destination for US natural gas
From January-March 2022, Mexico’s purchases of natural gas from the United States amounted to 5,546 million cubic feet per day. This figure implied a fall of 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year; however, this level still maintains Mexico as the main destination for US natural gas.
Mexico is the main destination country for US natural gas, followed by its northern neighbor, Canada, and one of the European powers, France, according to figures from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
During the first quarter of 2022, Mexico’s purchases amounted to 5,546 million cubic feet per day.
Although the country is still the main natural gas trading partner of the United States, the war in Europe has significantly increased shipments of US natural gas.
