The Headline of the News in English: Mexico Climbs to 9th Position Among Top Exporters
Mexico has achieved a significant milestone in the realm of exports, climbing to the ninth position among the world’s largest exporters. With an impressive value of $593.012 billion in external sales last year, the country improved four places from the 2022 ranking. This achievement is partly attributed to investment relocation and ongoing efforts towards competitiveness.
Mexican exports recorded a year-on-year growth of 2.6% in 2023, surpassing nations like Russia, Canada, Hong Kong, and Belgium, which experienced declines in their exports. China leads the list with $3.4 trillion, followed by the United States and Germany.
Israel Morales, Director of the National Committee for Mexico-United States Relations and International Agreements of the National Council of the Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry (Index), noted that Mexico has been competing for export supremacy for decades, and this historic achievement reflects ongoing efforts to attract investment and promote competitiveness.
The strengthening of production in Mexico is becoming evident, with an upward trend expected to continue in the coming years. New investments are expected to arrive in the country in 2024 or 2025, which could further solidify its position as an export powerhouse.
