Drops in Veracruz and Lázaro Cárdenas Halt Automotive Progress at Ports
During the first month of 2024, Mexican ports experienced a decrease in the operation of new automobiles, especially in Veracruz and Lázaro Cárdenas, two key ports for the automotive industry in the country.
Although a total of 170,118 units were handled, 1.6% less than in January 2023, exports suffered a 3.1% decrease, while imports increased by 0.67%. Despite a positive growth of 22.7% in the Pacific, the port of Lázaro Cárdenas experienced a 13.3% decline.
On the other hand, in the Gulf of Mexico, Veracruz recorded a 31.9% decrease compared to the previous year.
