Despite the pandemic, Guanajuato continued to present exports with Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.
During 2020, the year in which the pandemic began, commercial operations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) represented an amount of 251 million dollars, announced the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of Guanajuato (Cofoce) .
According to information from Cofoce, in 2020 the value of exports from Guanajuato to the countries that make up ASEAN (Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines) amounted to 30 million dollars, which also meant a drop annual, the variation was -70%, compared to 2019; these sales represented 0.1% of the state's total exports.
Cofoce detailed that in 2020 there were fifteen exporting industries; being the main hides and skins (43%), auto parts (30%), metal mechanics (9%), agro-industrial plastics (6%) and their manufactures (3%), among others.
Meanwhile, imports from Guanajuato from ASEAN amounted to 221 million dollars, which represented 2% of the total imports of this entity belonging to the Bajío.
