Mexico and Sweden Strengthen Commercial Relations, Cooperation, and Friendship Bonds
he recent inauguration of the Mexico-Sweden Business Forum “Innovating a Sustainable Future” has marked a milestone in the commercial and cooperation relations between Mexico and Sweden. The Deputy Secretary of Foreign Trade, Alejandro Encinas Nájera, highlighted the importance of this meeting to boost sustainable trade and investments between both nations.
Mexico offers attractive opportunities for investors due to its strategic geographical position, trade agreements network, and the talent and commitment of its workforce. The aim is to attract sustainable investments that contribute to technological development, the creation of well-paid jobs, and environmental impact mitigation. Swedish companies receive support from the Ministry of Economy to materialize their investment projects in Mexico.
The economic relationship between both nations, dating back to 1904, has strengthened with the Mexico-European Union Free Trade Agreement (MEUFTA), facilitating the exchange of goods and services. Swedish investment in Mexico has been significant in key sectors such as the plastic industry, electric power generation, and paper industry.
Examples of Swedish companies that have contributed to Mexico’s economic and technological development include Ericsson, Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget, Electrolux, and Tetra Pak. Mexican exports to Sweden have experienced steady growth in recent years, demonstrating the dynamism of bilateral trade relations.
The Ministry of Economy reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the economic relationship and promoting collaboration in key areas such as trade, investment, and innovation between Mexico and Sweden.
