Transporters Resume Blockade at Lázaro Cárdenas Port
The port of Lázaro Cárdenas in Michoacán, Mexico, is once again facing a blockade by a group of transporters known as Operadores Unidos. This blockade is disrupting the flow of cargo trucks in the second most important port on the Mexican Pacific coast. The transporters are expressing their dissatisfaction with the long waiting times during loading and unloading activities at the terminals.
The National Port System Administration (Asipona) Lázaro Cárdenas has reported the situation and engaged various stakeholders to find a solution. Changes in the container scheduling system, email notifications, and service hours have been agreed upon to improve logistics and reduce entry and exit times at the port.
Despite efforts to resolve the conflict, it is worth noting that the port of Lázaro Cárdenas has experienced a decrease in container movements in the first eight months of this year compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, operational adjustments are planned for the Area of Logistics Services to Road Transport (ASLA) to enhance cargo distribution at the port. This port plays a crucial role in the import and export of new automobiles in the Mexican Pacific region.
