Vehicle production grows 15.2% in May
The Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry, AMIA, published the production and export of light vehicles, which registered a favorable performance during May.
AMIA released the report on production, exports, and domestic sales of light vehicles as of May, based on information published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, INEGI.
Production in May 2022 stood at 275,436 units, an increase of 15.2% compared to May 2021, while from January to May 2022 it was 1,376,028 units, an increase of 3.5% compared to Jan – May 2022. Export in May 2022 it was 244,643 units, an increase of 1.1% compared to May 2021. From January to May 2022 it accumulated 1,166,921 units, 0.3% less compared to Jan – May 2021.
In May 2022, internal sales totaled 91,215 units, 5.2% more compared to May 2021. From January to May 2022, they accumulated 428,056 units, 0.9% less than Jan – May 2021.
The Mexican production and export of light vehicles return to its path of recovery in May. The greater dynamism of some brands offers signs of relief in terms of the scarcity of supplies. High levels of interest rates and inflation in export markets continue to concern the industry on the demand side.
